Heatshields for the Kawasaki 1400GTR

The Kawasaki GTR 1400 is an excellent and much appreciated touring motorcycle. It is equipped with a very modern and powerful 1352cc engine.

That powerful engine produces a lot of heat. Especially at the 2008 and 2009 models of the 1400GTR. For a lot of drivers this is unpleasant and annoying. Particularly at the right lower leg where a lot of hot air blows by.

As you can see on the pictures at the right, Kawasaki has made some changes as from the 2010 model. The faring has changed a bit and the gaps at the lower legs of the driver are now closed. There are no changes at the engine of the motorcycle.

The heat shields on this website offer a solution for the 2008 and 2009 models of the GTR1400. The gaps between the fairing and the frame will be closed by the heat shields on both sides of the motorcycle. Due to this there is almost no warm airstream blowing past the drivers legs anymore. Because of the black color of the heat shields they are almost not noticeable.

GTR heatshields

The heat shields are made of inflammable melamine foam that can resist heat up to 120°C. They are equipped with a black moisture-resistant layer that can resist water, oil, and most solvents en cleaning fluids. Because of the good specifications of this foam it is also used in the aviation industry.

The heat shields are shaped to follow exactly the outline of the motorcycle and can be installed very easily.  No glue or bolts are needed. The heat shields clam between the fairing and the frame. For installation the two side panels of the faring need to be removed. Less than 15 minutes of work!

The flexible tube with the adjusting screw to set the idle speed, can be put in front of the left heat shield for easy access. That is also the case with an optional conector for a battery charger at the right side of the motorcycle.
